Why ChatGPT Won't Answer on Its Own
Ask ChatGPT "which celebrity do I look like?" with a selfie attached and it will usually describe your features in general terms or decline. That's deliberate. OpenAI doesn't let ChatGPT identify real people from their face, and naming the celebrity a stranger's photo resembles is close enough to identification that it plays safe.
ChatGPT also has no face-recognition model of its own. It can describe a photo in words ("short dark hair, strong jaw"), but it can't measure how alike two faces are, which is what a lookalike answer needs.
Apps fill that gap. A ChatGPT app is an outside tool ChatGPT can call in the middle of a conversation. Ollie's app does the face matching, and ChatGPT talks you through the result.
How the Ollie App Finds Your Lookalike
When you attach a selfie and ask, ChatGPT hands the photo to Ollie. Ollie finds the largest face, lines it up, and turns it into 512 numbers with a face-recognition model the Ollie team trained from scratch. Those numbers are compared with more than 40,000 freely licensed photos of over 5,000 well-known living people, and each celebrity is scored by their closest photo.
The answer comes back as a card in the chat:
- Your top 5 celebrity lookalikes, each with a photo, what they're known for, and a similarity percentage.
- A line saying how many photo searches you have left today.
- A link to a shareable result card on ollieml.com.
The same model scores 99.5% on the LFW face-verification benchmark, so the ranking reflects real facial similarity rather than hair colour or clothes. It's the same engine as the celebrity lookalike finder on the website.

How to Add Ollie to ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Apps and search for Ollie, then select Connect.
- If it isn't listed for you yet, add it by URL: Settings, Apps & Connectors, Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode, choose Create and paste
https://www.ollieml.com/mcp/lookalike. - Optionally sign in with a free Ollie account when asked. It raises your photo searches from 1 to 25 a day.
- Start a chat, attach a clear selfie and ask "which celebrity do I look like?".
Full steps for every client, plus the other two Ollie apps, are on the Ollie in ChatGPT and Claude page.
Using It in Claude
Ollie also works as a Claude connector. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste the same URL. Claude doesn't pass photos from the chat to connectors yet, so Ollie's card shows its own upload button: pick your selfie there and it goes straight to Ollie, not through the chat. The result replaces the button in the same card.

What Else You Can Ask
The lookalike app has three more tools, and two of them need no photo at all:
- "Who does Margot Robbie look like?" Ollie lists the celebrities who look most like any of 113 popular stars. Free and unlimited.
- "Do my sister and I look alike?" Attach two photos and Ollie scores how alike the faces are, like the compare faces tool.
- "How many searches do I have left?" Shows your daily allowance.
For the famous pairs, the same data is on the website as famous look alikes, one page per celebrity.
Privacy: What Happens to Your Photo
Your photo is processed in memory to get the result and is never stored, logged or used for training. Ollie keeps only a search record (an account ID or an IP-based ID, and the time) to enforce the daily limit, and deletes it after 90 days.
Ollie is built so it can't be used to identify people. If a photo matches one celebrity at the level you'd expect from two photos of the same person, that match is dropped, so a celebrity's own photo never returns their name. It's only for photos of yourself and people who've agreed, and never for photos of children.
Getting a Better Match
A good photo matters more than anything else. Face the camera straight on, use even daylight, keep your hair off your face and hold the phone at arm's length or further, since a close phone camera widens the nose and narrows the face. More tips are in the best photo for a celebrity match.
Try two or three different photos too. Lighting, angle and expression all shift the scores a little, and the celebrities who appear in every set are your truest lookalikes.
