The Percentage Score
The percentage similarity score on each result is the distance between your facial embedding and the celebrity's in 512-dimensional space, rescaled so it is easier to read. A score of 90%+ indicates very strong geometric similarity, the kind most people would notice on direct visual comparison. Scores of 70–89% indicate meaningful similarity in specific geometric dimensions. Below 70%, matches are present but may not be visually obvious.
The percentage is not a probability. It does not mean there is a 90% chance you are the same person as the celebrity. It means the celebrity's fingerprint is very close to yours compared with the rest of the database. Treat the ranges above as a loose rule of thumb, not measured thresholds.
Why Ranking Matters More Than Score
Absolute scores vary between photos of the same person due to photo conditions. A photo taken under ideal conditions produces higher absolute scores across the board than a photo taken under poor conditions. This means you cannot directly compare absolute scores from two different photo sessions.
What remains stable is the ranking: which celebrity is #1 vs #2 vs #3. If the same celebrity appears at #1 consistently across multiple photos, that is a strong and reliable signal of genuine geometric similarity. Focus on the ranking when interpreting results across different photo sessions.
Reading the Top Five
The top five results give more information than just the #1 match. Look for shared features across multiple top-five results: if several celebrities all have a similar jaw shape, strong cheekbones, or similar eye spacing, those shared features are likely driving your embedding's position in face space, and are characteristic of your face.
If your top five results look very diverse with no obvious common thread, you are likely in a central region of face space where multiple celebrity clusters are approximately equidistant. Your face does not strongly resemble any one archetype; it is structurally average across many dimensions.
